The lagoon feasibility study was required from consultation and investigations conducted for the development of the Port Douglas Master Plan.  The project involved assessing 4 locations using agreed criteria and a concept design of what a lagoon may look like and how it may function on each site.

Extensive community and stakeholder engagement was undertaken throughout the process to ensure an integrated process and outcome would be achieved.  Ultimately a preferred site was established and further design and costing completed to a sketch design level.

The final design included a 1750sqm swimming lagoon with training pool, beach entry, natural grotto and waterfall, childrens play areas, an infinity edge to the adjacent walkway, and deep water snorkel trail.  Support facilities included BBQ and picnic areas, reception and cafe, and amenities and plant room spaces
